Dr. Smoot is the Medical Director serving as the chief administrative officer of the Medical Staff. He serves as Chair of the Medical Executive Committee, acting in cooperation with the President /CEO in all matters of mutual concern within the Hospital. Dr. Smoot is responsible along with the President/CEO and Governing Board for the enforcement of the Bylaws, the Rules and Regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.

 

Ms. Emerson is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Nursing Officer and has responsibility for all clinical areas including Imaging, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, Patient Care Unit, OR, Phase I and Phase II Recovery, Pre-op, Intensive Care Unit, ED and Treatment Center. She has over 15 years of nursing experience in intensive care nursing, education and management. She has previously served as the CCU Team Leader for the Heart Hospital of Austin and helped to open that facility. She started with Austin Surgical Hospital on March 31, 2003. She holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration with a Minor in Business Administration from the University of Texas.
