Todd Mann VP Austin Area Market-HPA and CEO Austin Surgical Hospital
Todd is VP Austin Area Market – HPA and CEO of Austin Surgical Hospital.
Todd was selected to fulfill the role as Chief Executive Officer because of his extensive, successful operations background in other hospitals.
Todd was previously COO at Twelve Oaks Medical Center (HPA facility) in Houston, TX.
Prior to coming to HPA, Todd was the Chief Executive Officer at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida and Chief Executive Officer of Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland, Texas.
Todd attended the University of Texas here in Austin and ultimately took his Bachelors degree from UT, San Antonio.
He also holds a Master of Science in Health Professions from Southwest Texas State University.
Barbara Bergin, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Bergin is the Medical Director serving as the chief administrative officer of the
Medical Staff. She serves as Chair of the Medical Executive Committee, acting in
cooperation with the President /CEO in all matters of mutual concern within the Hospital.
Dr. Bergin is responsible along with the President/CEO and Governing Board for the enforcement
of the Bylaws, the Rules and Regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
Dr. Bergin received a BS in Zoology from Texas Tech University and her
MD from Texas Tech University School of Medicine. She completed her orthopedic residency at
the University of Missouri Medical Center and Texas Tech University School of Medicine.
Dr. Bergin is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of
the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. She practices general orthopedics. Dr. Bergin is
active on several committees and serves on the medical staffs of all area hospitals. She is
very interested in high school and college students pursuing careers in medicine and is
frequently called upon to speak on this and other subjects.
Dr. Bergin is married, the mother of two children. When she isn't working, she enjoys raising
cattle and horses. She competes in horseback riding and is the 2003 non-pro regional champion
in the National Reined Cow Horse Association.
Sherri Emerson, RN, MSN, CCRN
Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer
Ms. Emerson is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer and has responsibility for all clinical areas including Imaging, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, Patient Care Unit, OR, Phase I and Phase II Recovery, Pre-op, Intensive Care Unit, ED and Treatment Center.
She has over 15 years of nursing experience in intensive care nursing, education and management.
She has previously served as the CCU Team Leader for the Heart Hospital of Austin and helped to open that facility.
She started with Austin Surgical Hospital on March 31, 2003.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration with a Minor in Business Administration from the University of Texas.
