"My husband snores a lot and claims he has a deviated septum. What is the remedy and will it get rid of his snoring?"
Snoring is a symptom of many antomical issues. Certainly a deviate septum(crooked cartilage and/or bone inside the nose) can lead to snoring. This occurs because the nose gets blocked and the
the patient usually starts breathing through their mouth. The palate then vibrates(usually a result of floppy or extra palatal(or uvula) tissue. This vibration is where the snore comes from.
Other anatomical issues leading to snoring: Large tonsils, large adenoids, large lingual tonsil( base of tongue tissue), weak jaw
Other considerations: getting a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea.
